HENCH's Bahamian Adventure - Day 2

06/05/05

We didn't stop having fun simply because the first day was over. We just kept on the roll that started on the Gilly Too, and kept right on rolling at the casino. Then we rolled the dice again and Capt'n Henchy ends up taking us to one of the many deserted islands near Nassau. Are we on a roll or what?

"Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale..." No tale, this is the actual island filmed for the closing credits backdrop to "Gilligan's Island."

Shiver me timbers! He REALLY IS Capt'n Seadog! For proper disclosure, Capt'n Seadog does NOT own a luxury water vessel purchased with community property assets.

On the other hand, he looks suspiciously comfortable at the helm, doesn't he? It's possible he's actually "In-the-Black-Beard," Captain of the 10 gun sloop "Her Majesty's Justice." Don't be fooled by the casual look, striking from secluded coves to raid vessels of their ill-gotten gains, the Capt'n and his band of well-disciplined pirates have built a fierce reputation for shocking victories over substantially larger foes.

Here we are approaching Rose Island for a day on the beach. A beach we had all to ourselves.

HENCH is NOT seasick, and about to puke over the side. HENCH is operating the anchor winch, seasick, and about to puke over the side.

Approaching the beach in the Captain's launch....

You want to know how laid-back this is? Check out Seadog drinking wine right from the bottle.

And a little swim with the tender in the background. The water here was so clear, you could see any fish (or shark) swimming from quite a ways away.

Probably at least a quarter mile of perfect beach all to ourselves.

Beautiful white sand, crystal blue water.....

....several hundred yards of shallow sandbar.....

....more wine....

....and another swim, with the Gilly Too as a backdrop...

...in the lovely 80 degree water. Please don't pinch us.

Here's the tender. Powered by a Yamaha 85 HP two-stroke, this baby flat out gets up and hauls. Of course, HENCH took it out solo for a few high speed donuts, and after careful analysis, can verify it'll pull over 1 G in the turns, enough to throw an unsuspecting passenger (or driver) off the high side. Wanna go for a ride?

Day 3 is HERE
