Desert Spring!

03/06/05 California City

Here's some fun - a beautiful spring day in the desert after record rain. Plenty of mud puddles to stomp, soft, loamy sand to roost, green grass to mow, and no dust!

Camp California City. 6 vehicles, 11 bikes, 13 people and a ton of fun.

Here's Mike Hull's new home-away-from-home. And Kodi's new KTM 85SX. Already coated in mud, a good sign.

Ah, the new Duke of the Desert, Brian Bell's KTM 300EXC. It'll do 80 mph across the roughest desert, IF you can hang on while it accelerates up to warp speed.

"Hey Steve-O, do a wheelie for the camera. Yeah, like that!"

Here's Grandpa with Camille and Alec. Alec is thinking about "Big Air."

Alec points out TP5's sniper skills to Kodi.

"I tell ya Tom, they may look funny, but these hats shade better than your hands."

Here's flight # 220, Gassin' Gordon Stegal, taking off from the double in Texas, expected to land in Cal City in about two hours!

"Humph!" TP4 can only laugh.

Lunch time. Sarah and Alec dive right in.

"We're waiting for Gordon to land."

FastAlec, Come On Down!

Down boy!

Camille honking on the pumped-up CRF50. She'd do her own rendition of the in-flight front fender inspection before creating a new way to stop quickly.

Here' Sarah flying along on the KTM 50 Mini Adventure. She tested the limits of woman and machine several times.

Sarah takes a break and waits for Gordon to land after one of her spectacular get-offs.

The FastAlec KTM 65SX pre-wash. There's about 10 pounds of mud caked on.
